Popular Diets

The reason many diets become popular is usually because they work.  You start hearing about them on TV, the internet or from friends and family.  The words “fad diet” are often looked down upon but many diets that become popular can really work and help you lose those few extra pounds.  Many popular diets use a combination of strategies to help you overcome your unhealthy lifestyle.  They usually combine exercise and diet to help you lose weight.

One extremely popular diet is the 17 day diet.  This diet was created by Dr. Moreno and has become a New York Times best selling book.  The diet, although called 17 day diet, is actually broken into 4 phases which are each 17 days.  It seems long but the bulk of the weight loss occurs within the first 17 days.  The other 3 phases are to help you reset your metabolism.

The diet consists of mostly vegetables and protein and after the first phase a few other types of foods are introduced back into the diet. The 17 day diet also has a 17 minute daily workout plan.  Many people think the key to losing weight is lots of exercise.  Although exercise is very important the most important factor when it comes to weight loss and being healthy is diet.  The way Dr. Moreno’s program is built is to help your bodys’ metabolism reset itself so it doesn’t stay the same way it has been for years and years.

Most people typically lose about a pound a day while on this diet.  The best thing about the diet is that the weight actually stays off.  Of course you learn to eat healthier overall but you don’t have to stick to a very strict diet even after the weight comes off.  This is one reason the diet has become so popular.  If you have been looking for a diet that really works try the 17 day diet.  It is best to start this diet with a friend or family member so that you can both motivate each other as you go.
